Calculation of water balance in the body

The average person needs about two liters of water per day. You can accurately calculate the required volume of liquid using the formula given below. A person gets about one and a half liters from drinks, and almost a liter comes from food. Also, part of the water is formed due to the oxidation process in the body.

To calculate the amount of water you need per day, you can use the following formula: multiply 35–40 ml of water by body weight in kilograms. That is, it is enough to know your own weight to instantly calculate your individual need for water.

Simply put, the main function of water balance is to keep everything in balance: to work without overexerting and without causing problems to other systems of the body (neighbors in the body, so to speak).

The importance of hydration for athletes

Since my resource is sports-oriented, it would be wrong not to mention athletes.

An average person needs to drink about 2.5 liters of water per day on average. For some more, for others less - it all depends on your build. In addition, nutritionists advise starting your morning with a glass of water, and only then going to wash your face, and so on.

For physically active people, this amount of water should be increased to 3 liters per day, since a significant proportion of moisture is consumed during training in addition to consumption throughout the day. And then 3 liters is the minimum, since different methods of training require different amounts of water.

For example, when working for weight (judging by myself and my comrades), I need much less water than when “drying” and working for endurance. So, if necessary, you can drink more. Here it’s worth starting from your own feelings: if the body asks, give it, if not, don’t torture yourself.

Whether when gaining weight or when “drying” (or when running), water is simply necessary. The only question is its quantity.


Personal experience

Here is a clear example of how water affects our health. A friend of mine had a stomach ache. I went to the doctor, he felt her, asked a couple of questions and told me to just drink more water. Strange, at first glance, advice from him, making one doubt the doctor’s competence. But my friend still listened to the advice. And guess what? My stomach stopped hurting.

It turns out that she didn’t drink much (she said she didn’t want to). Because of this, the acidity of the stomach jumped up and gastric juice began to corrode the walls of the stomach itself. By the way, I didn’t feel any heartburn. Drinking water simply diluted too much juice. But this does not mean that you can wash down what you just ate with water.

My other “colleague”, in addition to the rocking chair, also attended judo. After these workouts, he drank 6-7 cups of tea at a time: thus restoring the water balance, as he said. Tea seems to be not the most effective means of restoring this balance. I will say more, coffee and tea take a significant proportion of water from the body. That's why in expensive restaurants they also serve water when ordering coffee.

But let's get back to my friend. He didn’t want to drink water, but sweet tea, please. The fact that tea takes water from the body, he compensated with its quantity.
