Why does it say the plugin could not be loaded? Failed to load plugin what to do: instructions for resuscitation

When Opera or another browser failed to load a plugin, what should you do and how quickly can you solve this problem? We are usually not talking about all plugins, but about one specific one, which ensures the playback of video and audio recordings on websites. Its operation is unnoticeable, but when problems occur, visiting most sites becomes too inconvenient.

What does "could not load plugin" mean?

The problem manifests itself in all its glory when visiting online cinemas and music sites. We will not discuss the legal aspect, the problem of piracy and the like. Such portals, although not the most legal, are one of the most convenient ways to access information.

You can look at them:

  1. New films.
  2. Recordings of sports matches.
  3. Documentary programs.
  4. Entertainment shows.
  5. Series.

But everything beautiful tends to come to an end. When you visit your favorite website one evening, you will see how the usual window suddenly becomes inactive, and a notification is displayed in its background. The whole point is that Opera usingFlashPlayer tried to execute your command and start playback. But something went wrong, and what exactly still needs to be found out.

Why can't the plugin load?

There is no single cause of the problem, but there is several of the most popular fault scenarios. More often the problem is that the software version has not been updated for a long time. When installing, many people prefer to uncheck the “Automatic update when connected to a network” checkbox. Why install a new version when the old one is fully functional? And it has already become so familiar.

If you think the same thing, then don’t be surprised when, a few months after the most recent update, system errors start pouring in like a cornucopia.

And first of all you will notice it's a plugin malfunction. Love for old and reliable versions of programs is not the only cause of possible problems. The situation may not depend on you at all, Opera has unstable plugins . So one of them failed.

Or maybe you haven’t cleared your browsing history for a long time; the accumulation of unnecessary information in RAM will not improve the performance of your device. Or the plugin itself was downloaded too long ago and has not been updated all this time. Any software needs improvements and improvements. And after another such modification, old versions may become inoperable. An unpleasant bonus for millions of users.

We update a morally and technically outdated browser.

If the cause of the malfunction is approximately clear, then how to solve it remains a mystery. In fact, there is nothing complicated about it.

If the issue is an outdated version of the browser itself, here step-by-step instruction:

  • Open Opera and go to settings.
  • Select "About" item.
  • In the window that opens, check whether you are using the latest version of the browser.
  • If not, agree to the system’s offers to install updates.

If the plan seems too complicated, you can go in a simpler way.

Go to the official website of the opera and download the latest version. If you used a very old modification because you considered it more convenient, you will have to choose between the habit and the ability to watch videos and listen to audio on web pages.

As a last resort, we can recommend download another browser, for example Google Chrome or Yandex Browser and use it as a player. But it's inconvenient and gets boring quickly. So, accept the need to get used to the new design and slightly expanded functionality.

Eliminating the consequences of a failure

What about that very incorrect operation, which is in no way related to the user’s actions? Such problems can indeed arise from time to time. Many people cite browser or system updates as the cause of the failure. But so far it has not been possible to derive a direct relationship, even among British scientists. How can I fix it? You should not immediately reinstall the plugin itself; this may not help get out of the situation. And even if everything returns to normal, you are not using the most rational option to solve the problem.

Let's try perform the following steps step by step:

  1. In the settings, select " Plugins».
  2. Click on the button " Show details", it is located in the upper right corner.
  3. Carefully review all plugins and find among them FlashPlayer.
  4. Disable the operation of one faulty one.
  5. Restart your browser and enjoy normal operation.

A reasonable question may arise - how to determine which extension is faulty? Do you really have to turn it off at random, restart it, and then start again? In fact, everything is simpler, our goal should be have a type « PPAPI ».

And remember that to restore functionality, it is necessary not to the page with the plugin, but to the entire program.

When should you take extreme measures?

As soon as Flash Player stops displaying normally on your favorite website, you should check its performance on other resources. If the problem occurs only on one site, then you can use a simpler solution. It is enough to clear your browsing history and at the same time delete all datacookies and clear cache.

To start the procedure, just press the key combination CTRL+H. A browser history menu will open in front of you, in which you will need to click on the “ Clear message history", it is still located in the same upper corner. Then select the period for which you want to clean and begin destroying data.

Once the process is complete, the player’s functionality will be restored on all sites you visited.

It may happen that none of the proposed options worked. What to do then? Apply the most radical measures - reinstall Adobe Flash Player . It is worth remembering that the problem is related specifically to this plugin, and it can be fixed in a few minutes.

First, remove the extension that is already on your computer; to do this, it is better to use specialized disk cleaning programs. You can do this using built-in tools: “Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a program”

It’s also better to avoid updates, since such a problem has already arisen.

What should you do when not a single piece of advice really helps? Check your work machine for viruses, run or install an antivirus and enable full scanning. The results will not keep you waiting.

Video tutorial: if the plugin failed to load

Some users who choose the Opera web browser may encounter problems playing videos and music online. If your video does not start playing, the browser stops working, or pop-up windows with error warnings pop up, it means that for some reason your system was unable to load the Flash-Player plugin in Opera.

There are many possible reasons associated with this error. Using an outdated version of the program, a frozen plugin, system malfunctions, malware actions - all this can disrupt the correct operation of the online player. This article discusses what to do if you encounter a similar problem in Opera.

The first thing to do if you are unable to load the Flash plugin is to restart your browser. It is quite possible that some program tool malfunctioned, as a result of which the usual work was disrupted. If the problem persists after restarting, proceed to the next step.

In the Opera search bar, enter “opera://plugins” and press Enter. You will be taken to the connected plugins configuration page. Here you need to check if several Flash players are running at the same time. They can conflict with each other, causing periodic failures.

If you have more than one extension working, click on the “Show details” button. You need to leave only one active plugin (the latest version and preferably without the “NPAPI” mark). The object is disabled using the “Disable” button.

Updating and reinstalling Opera

If the previous methods did not have a positive effect, you should try updating your browser. Typically, it updates itself, but this setting may have been disabled. In addition, the downloading of new updates may be prevented by an installed antivirus or firewall.

To check the current version of the Opera browser, do the following:

If you are using an outdated application and for some reason the automatic download of the update does not start, you need to reinstall the program:

Reinstalling Flash

If all of the above did not help, then the reason lies in problems with Adobe Flash.

  1. Open Uninstall Programs again as described above.
  2. Find all the Flash files (there may be several of them) and delete one by one.
  3. Now go to the official plugin download site https://get.adobe.com/ru/flashplayer/.
  4. Click on the “Download system module” hyperlink.
  5. You will be prompted to additionally install some free application, for example, Google Chrome. If you don’t need it, uncheck the box next to the offer.
  6. Click "Install Now".
  7. Wait for the process to complete and restart your browser.

When opening media content in Yandex Browser, users may encounter a notification: “could not load the plugin.” Read what to do in this case and how to view the media page without errors within the framework of this article.

What is this plugin?

Flash Player is used to work with media files. Chromium-based browsers (including Yandex.Browser) use the built-in Shockwave Flash plugin. Working with the plugin is completely automated; updating Flash Player will not give any results. The only thing the user can do is disable or enable it in the browser.

Inclusion

The “plugin could not be loaded” error may appear simply because the plugin is disabled. To enable it:

Cleaning cash and cookies

There is a possibility that the page, after the first load, retained “its appearance” as it was when the plugin was disabled. And when the page is updated, instead of taking the updated data from the server, Yandex.Browser provides a version of this page saved on the computer, “assuming” that no changes have occurred. This is called page caching. To force the Internet browser to re-caches the page, you need to delete old references to it:

Advice! If the error cannot be resolved, try to see if the page works properly in another Internet browser or on another computer. Perhaps the cause of the error is on the site's side. If it doesn’t work only in Yandex.Browser,

No PC user is immune from errors occurring in the Windows system. These errors can appear under a variety of circumstances, and their causes may not always be obvious. Today we will deal with an error that occurs when trying to play video or flash content in the browser, instead of which a crossed out circle appears with the message “ Failed to load plugin”.

Express repair

So, you have your browser turned on, and you don’t want to make unnecessary moves to solve the problem you created. Let's go over the most obvious (but not always effective) ways to improve the situation:

    • Try updating your browser. You may be using an outdated version of your web browser that has a number of bugs that may be fixed in the new version.

Tough measures

  • If the above doesn't change anything dramatically, try clearing the contents of the folder using the following path (if it's Google Chrome):

    C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/PepperFlash

The path may be different in other browsers.

  • As a last resort, you can try completely reinstalling Adobe Flash Player. To do this, follow this link to the main Adobe Flash Player installation/update page and follow the instructions.

Last week, a problem occurred: Flash content stopped playing in Chrome version 54.0.2840.99m .

  1. Right-click to launch Adobe Flash Player.
  2. Failed to load plugin.

Troubleshooting

The first error can be corrected in two ways:

  1. Click on the element, right-click and select Launch plugin
  2. To avoid doing this every time, you can allow the player to always start. This will be discussed in Step 2

But with the second problem it will be more complicated, then there will be a description of how to identify and correct the plugin not working

Google offers to check whether the plugin is enabled or not + check the update:

Step 1

First, let's check the browser version, maybe there is an update and the problem will go away:

  1. In Chrome, click on the three dots (lines) on the right
  2. Help - about the Google Chrome browser. The browser will look for a new version and either update or say You are using the latest version of Chrome . If it doesn't help, then move on.

Step 2

Not relevant, since this functionality has been removed - https://my-chrome.ru/2017/03/chrome-57/

Make sure Adobe Flash Player is enabled:

  1. In the Chrome address bar we type - chrome://plugins and press Enter
  2. Top right, click on + More details
  3. Are looking for Adobe Flash Player
  4. Let's see, if there is only one plugin and it is turned on, then we go to the next step, if there are 2 plugins, then you can try turning one on and turning off the other. Since Chrome already has a built-in plugin, it doesn’t need an additional one, but if you need a new version of the player or there is some other reason, you can download and install the required version from the Adobe website, thereby we will have 2 of them

Step 3

You can also check the update to the plugin manually:

  1. In the address bar we write chrome://components and press Enter
  2. Finding the line Adobe Flash Player and click check for updates, if nothing has changed, it will be written: Status - Component not updated

Step 4

If, at the end of the checks, everything is updated and enabled, then perhaps this is the case that I had to solve:

  1. Back to Step 2 Point 3
  2. Look at the location and copy it
  3. Close chrome
  4. Open Explorer/My Computer and paste the copied location into the address bar, removing the plugin name. That is, the location is C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\23.0.0.207\pepflashplayer.dll, and in the address bar, paste C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\23.0.0.207\ (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\23.0.0.207\) and press enter
  5. There should be 3 files in this folder (mine is like this):
    • manifest.fingerprint
    • manifest.json
    • pepflashplayer.dll

In my case, there was no pepflashplayer.dll- this is Flash Player.
If you have the same or are missing another file, then move on

  6. We delete all the contents of this folder
  7. Back to Step 3 and do it all over again.
The state will change and should be: Component updated . I solved the problem on a computer other than my own, and it helped. Simulating this situation on my computer, the plugin did not download for me, if it’s the same for you, then let’s move on.
  8. Let's go up a level - C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash
  9. Delete the folder 23.0.0.207 . I couldn’t delete the folder because the system complained that it was open/occupied by someone. After rebooting and deleting the folder, you can repeat Point 7.
