Chair for winter night fishing. Description of a cot for winter fishing in a tent

Many fishermen prefer to fish all year round. For them, it makes no difference when to fish - in summer or winter. Naturally, fishing in the summer is completely different. You don’t need to prepare for it like you do for winter. The presence of extreme cold outside forces anglers to prepare especially carefully for fishing.

For fishing to be effective, you will have to spend a lot of time on the pond. If you do not prepare thoroughly, then hypothermia is guaranteed, which will lead to a cold and, as a result, bed rest.

What you need to have for this:

  • Comfortable, warm clothes.
  • Waterproof, warm shoes.
  • A good, warm tent.
  • A place to sleep.
  • Comfortable armchair.
  • Table for a snack.

This is a list for spending time on overnight fishing, which can make fishing effective and vacation unforgettable.

Furniture for winter fishing

If it’s frosty outside, you won’t be able to sit on a folding chair for long. Therefore, it is necessary to have warm and comfortable furniture.

Such furniture can be purchased in specialized stores or on the Internet by finding the necessary sites. The latter option is more preferable, since online resources always have a larger assortment of similar products, which allows you to purchase not what is available, but what is more suitable.

What is the difference between winter and summer furniture?

The difference is quite noticeable, since the operating conditions are completely different. For example:

  • Winter furniture is made from frost-resistant materials.
  • The fabrics used have a heat-retaining effect, which allows you to stay warm even in the most severe frosts.
  • Winter furniture is somewhat stronger, as it has to withstand heavy loads.

Take, for example, the fact that a person puts on several layers of clothing. The weight and dimensions of the fisherman increase. Therefore, furniture is made precisely from this calculation.

Folding bed and its features

The folding bed for winter fishing has a slightly different design compared to the one that can be seen in a country house or in a private house.

Design features are as follows:

  • It's much heavier.
  • The cot comes with a warm cover that allows you to sit comfortably on it in the most unfavorable moments.
  • The design of the product is made of durable and reliable materials.
  • The fabric used in the design retains heat and does not allow moisture to pass through.

The advantage of a folding bed for winter fishing is that it is convenient to transport. Despite its dimensions and weight, due to the use of special fabrics and durable metal, it folds to such a size that it fits freely in the trunk of a car. This suggests that it is as convenient to store as it is to transport: it does not take up much space.

In the process of purchasing it, you should pay attention to the following points:

  1. The strength of the metal structure and its reliable fixation in any position: both assembled and disassembled.
  2. On the quality of the fabric and its stitching. Otherwise, the characteristics of the product will not correspond to those declared.
  3. Read the instructions carefully to understand how much weight it can withstand without negative consequences. Otherwise, the folding bed will not last long.

To choose the right folding bed, you need to add another 15-20 kilograms to your weight, no less.

Fishing chair

A chair for winter fishing is quite different from the usual folding chair, like the one that fishermen take with them when fishing in the summer.

The design of the chair consists of:

  • Made from a durable metal frame.
  • Made from heat-retaining coating.
  • Made from waterproof coating.
  • The structure can be easily and reliably installed even in the snow.

A chair for winter fishing has all the positive advantages that can provide any angler with comfortable fishing conditions, regardless of weather conditions. In this regard, it should be noted that winter fishing in such conditions can bring no less positive emotions than summer fishing.

When choosing a chair for winter fishing, it is better to carefully read:

  1. With quality frame material. It must be durable, wear-resistant and reliable material.
  2. With the technique of sewing fabric. These should be smooth, high-quality seams, without any flaws.
  3. With reliable fastening of the fabric to the structure. This is necessary to prevent the fabric from being accidentally blown away by the wind.
  4. And the last thing is what weight the chair design is designed for. The selection rule is the same as when choosing a folding bed.

Careful study is necessary in order not to make a mistake. After all, not every expensive thing is of enviable quality. It is important to find (and there are always some) products that are of acceptable quality and not quite outrageous prices.

Advantages of a clamshell for winter fishing

When choosing a cot for winter fishing, you should pay attention to any little things that in one way or another can have a negative impact on the process of winter fishing.

But first, it’s better to decide whether a folding bed is needed at all and what it’s for. The folding bed can:

  • Protect from cold in all temperature conditions.
  • Give the opportunity to spend the night and start fishing in the morning, in a great mood and a vigorous body.
  • The structure is located at some distance from the ground, which protects a person from the cold from below.
  • The special coating creates warmth and comfort, which makes it possible to sleep soundly.
  • The folding bed can easily fit into any tent, even a single one.
  • Thanks to its small folded size, it is easy to transport and store.

The issue of purchasing a folding bed is especially acute when fishing stretches over several days, which can lead to hypothermia. In this case, there’s absolutely no way without a folding bed.

Manufacturers

On the market for such products, you can find furniture for winter fishing of both domestic and imported origin. All models differ from each other both in price and in quality, functionality and durability.

Domestic manufacturers

  • Furniture for winter fishing from the Russian company “Medved” is widely known in fishing circles. It is characterized by the fact that it meets all the standards and requirements that fishermen place on products. In the production of furniture, only high-quality materials are used, which contributes to a long service life.
  • The furniture of the Snegir company is also held in high esteem among fishermen. These products are high quality and durable.
  • Nelma products, such as cots, chairs and tents, have always been distinguished by their excellent quality and affordable prices, which allows avid fishermen to always feel comfortable and cozy on any fishing trip, either summer or winter.

Foreign manufacturers

  • The Chinese company “CLB” produces high-quality products, which makes it possible to spend more than one night on winter fishing, without losing comfort and coziness. The products are made from the highest quality materials, and the affordable price will always please any buyer, as there is an opportunity to save on winter furniture for fishing.
  • The range of winter furniture from Norfin Bratford is widely popular among fishermen. You will be pleased not only with the prices, but also with the quality and durability of the products.
  • No less high-quality products for winter fishing are offered by the Salmo company. Buyers will enjoy excellent quality products, as well as affordable prices designed for a wide range of consumers.

In other words, the market offers products that can be selected depending on financial capabilities, without loss of quality and functionality.

How to make a folding bed for winter fishing with your own hands

No matter how affordable the prices, ice fishing furniture costs a lot of money. Not every angler is ready to shell out a tidy sum for such a useful item. To save money, there is another, fairly cheap option - making such products yourself. The task is greatly simplified if you have some experience in making such furniture. Self-production has a number of advantages. For example:

  • Prove to family and friends that you have skills and abilities.
  • Save money for the family budget.
  • Design a product based on your requirements.
  • Create a unique, non-repetitive design.

Step-by-step production

First you will have to prepare all the necessary tools, such as:

  • Metal blanks for the frame.
  • Moving structural elements.
  • Fastening elements for connecting fixed parts of a structure.
  • Springs.
  • Fabric for finishing.
  • Thermal fabric for heat conservation.
  • Threads.
  • Needles.
  • Sewing machine for thick fabrics.

How it is made:

  • First you need to find a suitable place for work. There should be enough space, since the structure is not small.
  • The second stage is the creation of a drawing that will display the diagram of the future product.
  • After this, they begin to manufacture the frame of the future folding bed.
  • Having assembled the frame and checked its functionality (the ability to unfold and fold), we begin to attach the springs.
  • The pallet fabric is attached to the springs.
  • The cover made of heat-resistant material is sewn separately. It can then be mounted on a folding bed. Alternatively, you can not do this, but wear it only when it is needed.

Fishing is a very interesting and useful activity. It provides an opportunity not only to catch fish, but also to relax, gaining strength and energy for the future. But if a fisherman, having gone fishing, sits near the boat and is freezing, then there can be no question of rest. Most likely, we should be talking about the fact that he will spend the next week in bed, taking various medications.

In this regard, you should always think about the consequences when providing yourself with warm clothes and warm furniture. This is especially true if fishing is designed for more than one daylight hours.

Fishermen spend a lot of time in one place. Folding chairs and fishing chairs will help create comfortable conditions for doing what you love.

Criterias of choice

  • Ease of use - the ability to adjust the height of the legs, the position of the back and armrests.
  • Reliable installation - the chair must maintain a stable position even on a surface that is covered with silt or ice.
  • Compactness - fishing equipment is quite bulky, so it is important that the folded chair has small dimensions.
  • Light weight - makes it easy to move the piece of furniture.

Every amateur fisherman who engages in ice fishing must have a good, high-quality tent.

Without a warm and good tent, fishing in winter may not be a very attractive pastime: the cold wind and frost will not give you the chance to stay on the river or lake for a long time. Therefore, a tent made of quality material is simply a necessity.

In this material you will learn about the features of the choice, types and sizes of these products for winter fishing.

What to look for when choosing a tent for winter fishing

A tent for fishing in winter must meet many requirements so that the fisherman’s favorite hobby does not become torture and hard labor.

Firstly, this device must be windproof. All materials from which the tent is made must meet the above conditions.

When choosing, be sure to pay attention to the material, which must be dense, and in addition to everything, it must “breathe.” Because fishing tents made from “non-breathable” material cause condensation to form on the walls and dome of the “house” , resulting in subsequent freezing.

Also pay attention to the presence of opening vents and windows in the walls of the tent. They are necessary so that the air circulates well.

In addition, the material should preferably be of a light shade - it will be light for you in such a tent.

Before you buy a “house,” be sure to check how the product can be secured to the ice surface. In order for the tent to be securely fastened, it is desirable that it be equipped with guy ropes from the manufacturer that are attached to the poles.

And one more piece of advice: if many amateur friends are going fishing, you need to choose a larger tent.

Types of tents

Automatic

Automatic (or self-opening, spring) tents generally have a dome shape, although other shapes can also be found. The structure of the house is attached to the frame and forms a circle. Such a tent can be opened within a few seconds, since the frame works like a spring.

These types of tents are mainly manufactured by Chinese manufacturing companies and are in undoubted demand among fishermen due to their low price, lightness and compactness. However, to assemble such “houses” you need certain skills.

In addition, tents from Chinese manufacturers are not very rigid, and this affects stability and wind resistance. They can also break if they are installed incorrectly. Agree that this is a significant disadvantage.

There are also automatic tents that resemble a rain umbrella (or umbrella ones) in shape.

Automatic tents have windows that are well ventilated and allow light to pass through. Also, most of them have fire-resistant impregnation, which means that you can use the stove here for heating during the cold season.

The main advantages of such tents are their light weight and the ability to quickly and easily install and assemble them. With these products it is easy and simple to move from place to place, looking for the best area for fishing, including moving over short distances.

Arc

Such tents include external poles (usually two or three) and an awning, which is suspended from the poles on a hook. Typically, arches are made of plastic or metal. Metal is a more reliable material; it is not afraid of frost, but the cost of a tent with such poles can be significantly more expensive.

Tent color

This is a very important factor - with the help of color you can hide, not stand out against the background of the environment, so that competitors do not notice you and learn about your fishing spot. Or vice versa - the bright color of the tent will help you stand out so that, for example, friends who arrive later will find you without any problems.

Material

Pay special attention to this point when choosing a tent. The material of your future shelter should be windproof! At the same time, the tent must “breathe” - this is necessary to prevent condensation from appearing on the walls, which will subsequently freeze in the cold.

Most often, low-cost tents use polyamide fabric as a material. It meets basic requirements: it does not allow moisture to pass through and “breathes” well. However, with high humidity, such fabric stretches, and with prolonged exposure to bright sun it can lose strength. Therefore, such a tent may last for a maximum of a couple of years.

And one of the most popular materials, familiar to many from Soviet times, is tarpaulin. Currently, manufacturers rarely use this material in the production of tents.

The tarpaulin “breathes” well, is not afraid of the sun, but, unfortunately, it gets wet and allows water to pass through. However, there is a way out: a canvas tent can be water-repellent. It would also be a good idea to give the tarpaulin an anti-rot treatment.

Double layer tents

Such tents are most often used for fishing for long periods of time or during cold winters. In such models, another awning is attached inside to the frame of the tent, and an inner layer is attached to it (it’s good if this layer is made of a membrane). A distinctive feature of such “houses” is good ventilation and thermal insulation. However, as a rule, such shelters are heavy and therefore not very common.

Heating a tent while fishing

Usually, on a fishing trip, fishermen warm themselves with dry fuel, gas stoves, candles or primus stoves. You can even make a simple stove from an ordinary tin can to burn dry fuel in it.

First of all, you need to determine where the wind is blowing from. After this, you need to install the tent as follows: the entrance and ventilation valves, when open, should be on the side opposite from the wind.

The manufacturer often includes metal pegs along with the tent. However, they have little effect during winter fishing. Therefore, we recommend additionally purchasing metal screws (or gimlets) - they need to be screwed into the ice covering. Such devices themselves are securely fixed in the ice and will help to hold the tent tightly.

If a strong wind blows, the tent can be secured using an ice drill - drill a hole on the leeward side, and fasten the handle of the drill and the top of the tent.

When going fishing, don’t forget to wipe the locks with paraffin to make them work better. Never open the locks themselves completely - they can freeze in this position.

Advantages and disadvantages of fishing in a tent

Pros of fishing in a tent in winter:

An undeniable advantage in severe frost is warmth. Protected by the tent, you can even take off your mittens and use some kind of heater.

Also, if you have a tent, you are not afraid of the wind; you can wait out a strong snowstorm in it.

Thirdly, in a tent you can hide from prying eyes: no one can see what exactly the fisherman is doing, what gear he uses, what fish he pulls out, what lures and bait he prepares.

Disadvantages of fishing in a tent:

Low mobility, extra cargo in addition to the already heavy fishing equipment, as well as limited visibility for the fisherman himself.

Most popular models

The best premium tents for winter fishing

Among such models, according to fishermen’s reviews, the top three include:

Tramp Ice fisher 180

It is made of two layers of 100% polyester, it is wind and moisture resistant. There is only one entrance to the tent, so users are not afraid of drafts. Thanks to its large size, the tent can easily accommodate up to three people.

A tent in the shape of a hexagon, the walls of which are not blown through, and the arcs are not afraid of deformation. The kit also includes six wind guys. A 20 cm wide “skirt” sewn at the bottom provides additional protection from precipitation and piercing wind. Two special holes provide good ventilation. This model comes in different colors and can accommodate two people.

This is a two-layer tent in the shape of a hemisphere. It has a special impregnation of the outer layer, which ensures waterproofness and resistance to wind. The inner layer is a fine mesh.
You can safely take such a tent for two fishermen and go on hikes of medium difficulty.

Inexpensive tents for winter fishing

Penguin 2 Arctic

It is the most popular model and has a good price-quality ratio. It is made of two-layer fabric, so it perfectly protects from bad weather conditions. It is light in weight and has a well-thought-out shape, so you can move with it on the ice without disassembling it. Designed for two people.

The best thing about this 3 person umbrella tent is that it is easy and simple to set up. There is a loop inside the shelter where you can hang a lantern, and a special “skirt” sewn on the outside will reliably protect you from bad weather. There is a window and a fairly large entrance.

DIY fishing table

If you have to place your fishing gear, baits and bait on the ground, then it is time to purchase or make a DIY fishing bait table. The cost of such a device in stores for fishermen is quite high, so you can simply adapt any folding table for these purposes. It is also quite easy to make such a table for fishing with your own hands.

A fishing table is an indispensable item for summer fishing. It can accommodate all the essentials: bait, bait and other fishing accessories.

Using a device such as a bait table, the fisherman does not need to be distracted, so he can concentrate entirely on the process of fishing.

Homemade fishing tables are divided into:

  • based on the materials of the legs and frame. For these purposes, metal or PVC materials can be used;
  • according to the materials from which the tabletop is made. This can be a sheet of plastic, laminate, aluminum or galvanized;
  • by design - simple (non-separable) and assembly tables, which have both their advantages and disadvantages. A small fixed table is more difficult to transport, since it requires more space than a folding one.

Having decided to make a special table for fishing with your own hands, you can be sure that it will meet all your needs.

When purchasing a table in a fishing store, it can be difficult to choose exactly what you need - in size, convenience and reliability.

For example, you can make a non-folding table from a plastic tray.

To do this you need to stock up:

  1. A tray that will act as a table top. Select the sizes based on your individual preferences so that all fishing gear can be placed on the working surface.
  2. PVC tubes, which are used for laying electrical cables.
  3. Corners for attaching the legs of the attachment table.
  4. Plugs.
  5. Self-tapping screws.

A frame for the tabletop is made from PVC pipe, which is secured with self-tapping screws. Corners are attached to the edges of the frame, to which the legs are attached using glue or a soldering iron.

Most often, aluminum is used to make an attachment table with your own hands. This material allows you to get a fairly durable and lightweight table. In this case, aluminum is used both for the corners and for the tabletop.

Something as necessary for a fisherman as a fishing table can be made in several ways.

For the first, the following materials are required:

  • aluminum corner (for frame);
  • aluminum pipes;
  • window sill or metal sheet.

It is advisable to take the tubes of different diameters, which will allow you to adjust the height of the table.

The second version of the fisherman's table involves making it from an aluminum sheet, without using corners. The edges on the working surface are made by folding the edges of a metal sheet.

To work you will need:

  • aluminum sheet;
  • metal strip;
  • metal pipe.

The legs are made from a metal tube, and the frame is made from strips.

A brief comparative review of winter tents for ice fishing

Comparative review of tents for winter fishing

Let's start by not considering homemade products and Chinese “jumpers”. Of course, a person whose hands grow from the right place can do for his loved one exactly what he wants to see and have. Suffice it to recall the 70s program “You Can Do It.”

But there are only a few such craftsmen among the multi-million army of winter fishing enthusiasts. In addition, people used to build and make something either because it was their hobby, or because this type of product was simply impossible to buy due to its complete absence.

Currently, the fisherman is faced with another difficulty. From the variety of tents presented on the Russian market, how can you choose a good, high-quality product that would fully meet your requirements?

There are practically only a few manufacturers of tents for winter fishing in Russia.

In addition, tents are brought to us from abroad. Despite the fact that manufacturers indicate well-known European brands, real “European” quality is made, with rare exceptions, in Asia. Two types of tents are brought to us from abroad: bad and expensive. Bad tents are characterized by a low price, as well as the use of cheap, low-quality materials in their manufacture. In short, if you see a cheap imported tent, it’s better to stay away from it.

Expensive imported tents are a completely different matter; these are Things with a capital T. I don’t want to create advertising for anyone, but if you see a tent that is exactly similar to the designs of domestic manufacturers, but emphatically elegant, stylish, and at the same time solid, without strange “bells and whistles”, at a price of 250-300 dollars - most likely there is a worthy thing in front of you. If money allows, you will be satisfied.

What to look for when buying a winter tent

So, what do we first pay attention to when we are faced with choosing which tent to buy?

  1. Sizes of the tent (for how many people).
  2. Purpose of use (either it is a trip for one day and, accordingly, the need for protection from possible precipitation and wind, or it is a trip for two to three days, involving night fishing and spending the night in a tent on the ice).
  3. Tent design.
  4. The quality of the materials used.
  5. Resistance of the structure to strong winds and frost.
  6. Easy to assemble and disassemble.
  7. Installation time.
Fabrics for winter tents

Let's first look at the fabrics used to make tents. As a rule, all manufacturers who value their name and use high-quality materials in the manufacture of tents must indicate in the specifications for the tent the specific characteristics of the fabrics used.

The name of the fabric encodes its main properties and characteristics. Namely:

  • type of thread (Nylon, Polyester (or simply Poly), Nylon, Lavsan, etc.);
  • method of weaving thread (Taffeta, Oxford, Rip Stop);
  • weaving density in tex units (185T, 190T, 210T, etc.) - the number of longitudinal and transverse threads per square inch;
  • thread thickness in Den units (70D, 75D, 210D, etc.);
  • the presence of a polyurethane and (or) silicone water-repellent coating, respectively – PU and (or) SI;
  • water resistance in millimeters of water column (450, 3000, 6000, 10000, etc.).

As a result, the name of the fabric may look like this: Poly Taffeta 210T PU 3000, which means: polyester fabric of the Taffeta weave type with a weave density of 210T, polyurethane coating, waterproof at a water column height of 3000 mm.

Describing the properties of materials, first of all I would like to talk about the main types of fabrics (for now, without touching on density and water resistance). And there are two types of fabrics: polyamide and polyester fibers. Both types, under equal conditions, are almost equally light and elastic; both types are equally common. But there are differences that are worth paying attention to.

Polyamide fabrics (Kapron, Nylon) are tensile strength, hydroscopic, abrasion resistant and relatively cheap. But they are easily stretchable when wet and are sensitive to ultraviolet radiation (under its influence they lose up to 40% of their strength per year). Polyester fabrics (Lavsan, Polyester) are distinguished by high tensile strength when wet, “immunity” to ultraviolet radiation and a higher price.

As for the method of weaving the fabric, without going into technical details, it should be said that Taffeta is the most common weaving method, Oxford is successfully used in making the bottom of a tent, and Rip Stop is a kind of reinforcement. If Rip Stop is written on the label of a camping tent, this means that the fabric is reinforced with a thick, especially strong thread with a pitch of 2 to 10 mm. That is, Rip Stop is a kind of frame that makes the fabric especially resistant to tearing.

Size and purpose of the tent

As a rule, tents of small size and weight are used for one-day trips. Here, in our opinion, the main role is played by ease of assembly and disassembly, installation time, resistance of the structure to strong winds, and the ability to quickly move the tent and change the fishing location.

Accordingly, the frame-arc design is not very suitable for these purposes. It is impossible to transport the tent once assembled. A tent of this design can be set up by one person in about 5 minutes without wind, and in windy conditions at least 10 minutes. In case of windy weather, you first need to split the bottom and only then thread the arcs into the sleeves of the awning and fix them in the eyelets at the corners of the tent.

Another disadvantage of this design is the tetrahedral floor projection. In windy weather, such a structure is subject to twisting, and the walls are “blown” inward, reducing the useful volume.

Probably the most common tents of this type are HOLIDAY ICE type tents.

The advantage of these tents is their low price and weight. There are no more advantages. The tent awning itself is made of cheap materials, the seams are not welded, and the small diameter of the frame arcs leads to the fact that they often burst under wind loads. There is usually no ventilation. The kit does not include screws for attaching the tent. As the manufacturers themselves write, “to securely install the Holiday fishing tent on ice, use the included set of hooks, with which it is attached to the edges of undrilled holes”...
There is also a modernized model HOLIDAY EASY ICE.

The umbrella system is already used here. Only the disadvantages remain the same. The same inexpensive materials, lack of good ventilation, fastening to the edges of under-drilled holes...

Questions also arise about the quality of the plastic from which the snap lock of the umbrella system is made. It is located at the top on the outside of the awning.

It is not clear how it will behave if it first starts to snow or rain, and then a slight frost hits. And in windy weather it will be difficult to put up such a tent.

After all, again the manufacturer himself writes:

Without exerting significant effort, pull the cord of the automatic mechanism at the top of the tent until it activates.
An automatic mechanism will lock the tent in working order.
TO EASILY COMPLETE STEPS 3 AND 4, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO STEP OVER THE THRESHOLD WITH ONE FOOT.

Accordingly, even with not very strong wind, the wall of the tent will be “blown” inward at the junction of the folding poles. And you will have to pull the automatic lock up with one hand, and with the other, bending, straighten the compound arc...

As an example, we can consider another model of the single-person umbrella tent PIK-ZONT 1.

The manufacturer specifies specific materials for the awning; there is one ventilation window with a tube; the frame is made of duralumin rod and has a four-beam design. However, the disadvantages remain the same.

If we talk in general about the disadvantages of the umbrella structure of tents PIK-UMBRELLA, NELMA, NADEZHDA, SPECIALIST, then the main one is that the frame is located inside the tent awning. This means that, despite the umbrella design of the latter, in order to unfold the tent, you will have to climb inside.

In this case, with one hand you need to press upward on the bottom of the umbrella structure, and with the other, pull the cord down. Then secure the umbrella in the assembled position with a pin. In strong winds, this will create additional difficulties, since the wind will blow against the walls of the tent and the lower leg of the arc will tend to fold inward. So the best option for setting up this tent in the wind is two people. One from the outside holds the arc so that it does not fold, and the second, inside the tent, assembles the structure itself.

There is one more small “BUT” that for some reason everyone forgets about. Already assembled, the umbrella structure itself (meaning the pin on which this structure is assembled) is at least 17 cm long. Plus, the knitting needles diverge from it in different directions. Accordingly, if the height of the tent is indicated, for example, 1.80 m, in reality it will be approximately 17 cm less inside. So during your fishing trip you are guaranteed to hit your head on it several times.

Besides. The frame of these tents (as the manufacturers write) uses “duralumin rod made from B95T1 alloy.” This is definitely a plus. BUT: in expensive and high-quality foreign-made tents, the frame arcs are made from expensive duralumin alloys of the brand EASTON 7075 T9, 7001 from AMG (aluminum-magnesium alloy) made in Korea. Arcs made of these alloys have virtually no “memory”.

Russian manufacturers cannot always afford such luxury, so for production they use duralumin alloys of the D16T and B95 brands, which do not withstand competition in quality, but are much cheaper. If a tent with such a frame is torn off by a gust of wind and carried across the ice (which happens quite often), the frame arcs will almost completely bend. You will have to straighten them. Accordingly, the structure of the frame will be damaged, which will invariably lead to difficulties during subsequent assembly and disassembly of the tent.

Tents for winter fishing for two or more people

PIC-UMBRELLA 2, NELMA-2 (NELMA-2 LUX), NELMA-3 (NELMA-3 LUX), NADEZhDA, SPECIALIST - this is perhaps the most complete list of names of tents for two or more people, as well as tents used for night fishing.

The first three models have a hexagon at the base, Nadezhda and Specialist have a pentagon.

They all have an umbrella assembly system. The frame is made of duralumin rod. For all models, the frame is located inside the awning.

Of course, the hexagonal floor configuration is superior to the four- and five-sided ones. This tent design is the most wind-resistant; during strong gusts of wind, the arcs do not “twist” and the tent walls practically do not “blow” inward.

However, the umbrella frame of this type of tent has significant disadvantages.
Since when fishing at night, fishermen use tiles and lamps for heating, condensation inevitably occurs inside the tent, even with ventilation. Accordingly, since the frame is made of metal rod, moisture inevitably gets into the joints.

As noted above, the frame is located inside the awning. Therefore, in windy weather, to set up the tent faster, it is advisable to have two people involved - one will hold the tent in the wind, and the second will have to climb inside and assemble the “umbrella”. Accordingly, to make disassembling the tent easier, it will be necessary to perform the same operation, only in reverse order. Of course, one person can assemble and disassemble these models, but this will take much more time.

Winter tents Maverick ICE

Let's now look at the MAVERICK ICE tents

The frame of MAVERICK tents is reliable and simple, like everything ingenious. It is made of high-quality fiberglass and is not much heavier than the frame made of duralumin alloy V95T1, however, if the tent is torn down, the poles will spring back and not deform. The design of the tent is such that at the top, outside the tent, there is a round collet in which the ends of the arcs are attached.

The arc consists of three segments. The first leg (from the top of the tent) and the second are connected using a spring-loaded lock with a clamp that snaps into place in one motion.

In this case, the lower lock, between the middle and lower knee, automatically latches itself.

The upper collet and locks on the arches are made of ABS-Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene - this is an impact-resistant technical thermoplastic resin based on a copolymer of acrylonitrile with butadiene and styrene (the name of the plastic is formed from the initial letters of the names of the monomers). Among other properties of this material:

  • Increased impact resistance and elasticity
  • Non-toxic
  • Durability
  • Resistance to alkalis and detergents
  • Moisture resistance
  • Oil resistance
  • Acid resistance
  • Heat resistance 150 °C Wide operating temperature range (from?40 °C to +80 °C)

The MAVERICK ICE 1 winter fishing tent most fully meets all the requirements of a single-person tent.
As noted above, this model is single-seat and its main purpose is protection from bad weather and wind during one-day trips. The floor of the tent is a square with a side of 120 cm. Height is 150 cm.

The material from which the tent is made is Polyester Ripstop 180T, PU impregnation 1500 mm, the seams are welded. There is a 20 cm wide skirt along the perimeter of the tent. The tent comes with 8 pieces of steel screws, 19 cm long.

The unique frame design of the MAVERICK tents – RAPIDEX QUICK ERECT SYSTEM allows you to assemble the tent in 20 seconds. You don't need to thread the frame poles through the tent sleeves - all you have to do is take the tent out of the packing bag, snap the specially designed zip ties onto the four poles and your tent is ready for use. Moreover, due to the external frame, this assembly operation takes the same time in both calm and windy weather. Despite its small size, the tent has two ventilation tubes that can be either opened or closed as needed; a mesh shelf for small items is suspended from the ceiling; There are pockets sewn into the walls on three sides, which can also be used for various small items.

Tents MAVERICK ICE 2, 3, 4, 5

On all models, except ICE 3, POLYESTER RIPSTOP 180T, PU 1500 mm is used in the production of tent awnings, all seams are welded, a skirt made of calendered polyethylene 20 cm wide is sewn to the bottom of the tent. Model ICE 3 is made of POLYESTER OXFORD 150D. All models are equipped with 12 steel self-tapping screws (6 pieces for splitting the bottom and 6 pieces for additional wind braces). Inside the tent opposite the entrance there is a window with a zipper, above the entrance and above the window there are two closable ventilation tubes, a pocket for small items is sewn into each wall of the tent, and there is also a mesh shelf under the roof for various small items.

All of these models have a hexagonal design.
Model ICE 2 measures 190 (l) x 220 (w) x 160 (h)
Dimensions ICE 3 and ICE 4: 220 (l) x 255 (w) x 170 (h)
ICE 5 dimensions: 260 (l) x 300 (w) x 175 (h).
The quick-assembly frame is made of fiberglass arcs with a diameter of 9.5 mm.

The color of all tent models is yellow/orange. Therefore, even on the cloudiest day it is light in the tent. The manufacturing company provides a five-year warranty on the quick-assembled tent frame. Moreover, in the event of a breakdown, the arch with locks is completely changed. The process of replacing the arc is extremely simple and any user can easily change it.

Everything stated in the article is my personal opinion. However, having been passionate about winter fishing for decades, I can say with full responsibility that I have never had a better tent than the MAVERICK ICE.

Well, in conclusion, a few photos taken directly while fishing.

Avid fishermen fish in all seasons of the year. But winter is very different from summer, spring and autumn fishing. At this time of year, you need to insulate yourself so as not to freeze on the icy pond. Therefore, if you spend the night in a tent, you will have to purchase a folding lounger and a chair. But if the fisherman does not have enough finances to purchase such necessary accessories, then you can use your ingenuity and make a cot with your own hands.

Accessories for comfortable fishing

Beginning fishermen who are going to fish without leaving the lake for several days make many mistakes. For successful fishing and creating comfortable conditions the following should be done:

  • prepare warm clothes: pants, jacket, hat, mittens, socks, as well as the fabric of underwear should be thick;
  • choose waterproof boots;
  • you need to be careful when choosing a winter tent; you shouldn’t waste money on it;
  • a fishing folding bed and a folding chair are purchased;
  • mini table for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Also, do not forget about additional accessories: a flashlight, a lighter, and so on. Then fishing will become not only successful, but also comfortable.

Rules for choosing winter “furniture”

An ordinary folding chair is only suitable for summer fishing, but in winter you cannot sit on such a product for a long time. For this purpose, only furniture that is suitable for the season is selected. Such accessories can be purchased at a fishing store. But if no one sells a similar product at your place of residence, then you can buy it online. In the second case, specialized websites always offer a wide range of products at competitive prices. Therefore, there should be no problems with the purchase.

Some users of fishing equipment are confident that the more expensive the product, the better quality it will be, but in practice everything turns out differently. It is recommended to purchase devices only at average prices. They are superior in quality to cheap accessories and are not inferior to expensive accessories. What factors distinguish winter furniture from summer options:

Therefore, when making furniture, manufacturers are attentive to the requirements of customers.

A winter cot for sleeping is a little different from those models that can be seen in a country house. A number of differences between the clamshell for winter fishing:

Another equally important factor is transportation. The winter lounger looks quite large, but it can be folded in a couple of minutes. When folded, the clamshell acquires such dimensions that it will not be difficult to place the product in the trunk of a car. And the items that come with the folding bed are light in weight, so there will be no problems carrying the product. In addition, so that the structure does not interfere with the house, it can be folded and placed under a cabinet or other furniture. When purchasing a product, It is necessary to pay attention to the following nuances:

Naturally, these were recommendations that only apply when purchasing in specialized stores, and to purchase a product online, you should carefully study the reviews about the product on the website. It is also advisable to visit the forums for additional information.

Features of a folding chair

A summer folding chair is not suitable for winter fishing. A special warm chair is sold for this purpose. Otherwise a folding chair practically no different from a winter lounger:

  • the product can be easily disassembled and assembled;
  • there is a layer of heat-retaining coating;
  • the design has a reinforced metal frame;
  • If the chair is placed on thick snow, then this will not affect the stability in any way.

This chair for winter fishing is capable of retaining the heat emanating from a seated person. Therefore, a fisherman who comes fishing can stay on the pond for a long time and not freeze there. And if the angler does not feel comfortable, then his attention will concentrate not on the gear, but on keeping himself warm. This is an undeniable advantage. When choosing a folding chair It is recommended to use the following rules:

However, the principle of choosing a product is the same as with a folding bed. You should carefully inspect the structure and do not hesitate to check its strength. If flaws are found on the product, then you should not buy it.

Also, multifunctional and durable furniture produced by the Snegir company is held in high esteem in fishing circles.

The Nelma company mainly produces tents, folding beds and chairs. The furniture of this company is sold at affordable prices, but this does not in any way affect its quality. Fishermen say that Nelma produces both summer and winter comfortable furniture.

Therefore, any fisherman, depending on his financial situation, is able to buy the product at affordable prices. And this will have virtually no effect on quality.

Characteristics of a fishing chair

As for the chair for fishing in winter, it looks completely different from the usual folding chair that is usually taken for fishing in the summer. The design includes:

Try to do everything necessary so that the upcoming trip to the pond does not turn into a terrible struggle for survival under eye-eaten frost, wind and snow.
