Homemade flavors for fishing

Modern fishing stores offer many types of baits, flavors, additives, and attachments for fishing peaceful fish. If you look at the composition of these products, you can see that some of them can be made yourself.

Let's take bait. They contain a lot of breading, biscuit, flour and bran. These products are easy to find in the supermarket or market. The price is lower than bait, sometimes significantly. The same applies to liquid aromatics: sprays, boosters, syrups and molasses. You can make them yourself. Moreover, the process of obtaining such liquids at home is interesting.

How to get spray for fishing?

The basis of any spray is an extract or essence of a different scent. Two more components are water and alcohol. The ratio of these components is:

  • Hood - 50%
  • Glycerin or alcohol - 25%
  • Water - 25%

Instead of extract, you can add concentrated essence. It is sold in these small bottles of 5-10 mg.

It is enough to take a pipette and collect a couple of drops of this concentrate and drop it into the container. In this case, it turns out that 50% of water and glycerin or alcohol will be required.

Pour the liquid into a bottle with a spray bottle. If you have empty containers from store-bought sprays, do not throw them away. They will fit in the future. These bottles are still left over from perfumes. They should be washed well with boiled water to remove the smell of the liquid.

Typically, such bottles hold 50 ml, so pour 25 ml of water and alcohol or glycerin, and add 3-4 drops of extract.

If we use glycerin, then after 24 hours the spray is ready and you can use it. If we use alcohol, then we need to wait 7-10 days and the spray will also be ready.

What is the function of alcohol and glycerin and is it possible to simply dilute the extract or essence with water and get a ready-made attractant? Glycerin and alcohol hold the essence and prevent it from dissolving in the pond and eroding. If you dilute the extract with water and get a water-based spray, then the operating time of such a flavor under water will be less than a minute. Sprays containing alcohol and glycerin are also washed out, but over a much longer period of time.

You can also use sprays prepared with water. This is the case if the above products are not at hand and there is no time to prepare them. You can boil water and add a packet or two of vanillin and a teaspoon of sugar to it. Stir everything well and cool the liquid. After cooling, pour the prepared attractant into the container. This spray can be used for dynamic feeder fishing and when fishing with frequent casts.

Glycerin spray works better in warm water. Odors from fatty liquids dissolve better in summer. In cold weather, alcohol-based sprays work better.

As for flavors, it is best to use vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, raspberry, barberry, melon, caramel in warm water. In cold water, nutmeg, pepper, coriander, clove, bloodworm and meat aromas work better.

How to make meat sprays?

Getting meaty flavors is very easy. You need to take bloodworms, worms, maggots and grind them separately or crush them with a coffee grinder. Next, place it in a jar and fill it with alcohol. After that, we put it in a cool place and wait 3 weeks. The result will be a hood. Mix it with glycerin or the same alcohol and water and pour it into a spray bottle. Of course, it’s easier to buy such sprays. Moreover, now they are easy to order online. But if you have the desire and opportunity, then you can easily get homemade meat sprays that are no worse than store-bought ones.

DIY dill and garlic spray

You can also get extracts from other products. Take, for example, dill, chop it finely on a board and pour it into a jar. Next, add alcohol or vodka to cover the greens and put the jar in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. After this term, let’s see what we got. You should get a green dill extract. It will make a spray, a liquid flavor that is added to the bait.

Pour the extract into a spray bottle, add glycerin and water in equal parts and get a spray.

To obtain garlic spray, it is better to use glycerin directly. Take a bottle of glycerin and add 2 cloves of garlic pulp to it.

Pre-crush the garlic in a garlic press. Soak the garlic in glycerin for 8 days, then strain it through a fine metal sieve to separate the pulp from the liquid. Next, we simply dilute glycerin with water 50% to 50% and use it for fishing.

Note that crucian carp responds very well to dill and garlic spray.

Preparation of liquid flavoring for bait

In fishing stores you can find liquid liquids, boosters and dips in large quantities. They are added to bait during moistening. The result is a very aromatic mass that should attract fish.

A good replacement for such flavorings are syrups diluted with glycerin and water. There is a large selection of syrups on sale: strawberry, raspberry, orange, duchess, etc. They are much cheaper in price than those sold in fishing stores.

Let's consider one of the recipes for obtaining liquid aroma. We will need the following products:

  • Water - 0.5 l
  • Syrup - 0.5 l
  • Glycerin - 100 g.
  • Betaine - 6 tablets

Mix all the ingredients and get an excellent booster. For 1 kg of bait you need 200 grams of the resulting aroma. The price is much cheaper than store-bought aromas. And in terms of efficiency it is practically not inferior, except perhaps to foreign goods with astronomical prices.

Flavorings (attractants) belong to a special group of substances that attract the attention of fish and attract them to the place of potential fishing and bait/lure. There is a huge selection of these types of connections. But you should not equate attracting the attention of fish with biting. This is far from the same thing. After all, aquatic inhabitants can hear the complementary food, but sometimes they don’t want to peck.

The reason for this is the fact that attractants do not in any way affect the fish’s sense of smell or their desire to eat. These substances only attract their attention, nothing more.

Amino acids of plant origin are often used as flavoring agents. For the most part, extracts from plants, for example, garlic, various aromatic berries or cake, simultaneously have the properties of flavorings and attractants. Moreover, there is absolutely no need to use additional chemicals. This is a very expensive pleasure, the concentration of which is difficult to calculate, and it is not clear how the fish will react to one or another composition.

There are so-called dips– flavorings for baits at . They are mainly used when dipping boilies in the composition from the jar in which the dip is located.

Types of flavors

The classification of attractants is broad. So:

According to their intended purpose, flavorings are:

  • For bait;
  • For the nozzle.

If you pay attention to the type of fish, they may have a purpose:

  • For general use, for example, standard spices, strawberries or cocoa;
  • For targeted use, for example, on bream or carp.

Depending on the form of release, there are:

  • Dry flavorings;
  • Flavorings in the form of syrup;
  • Flavorings in the form of a spray.
  • Liquid flavorings, which can also have a high concentration of the substance.

In this case, it is recommended to add dry and spray flavors to the bait. As for the rest, they are considered universal and can be used for different purposes. Moreover, you can make attractants yourself at home. This will not only save you money, but will also not take much time.

Making your own flavors

What can be used as raw material for home-made flavors?

There are a huge number of different recipes for fish flavorings, which you can easily make yourself. It all depends on what kind of fish you are going to catch. To create attractants at home, you can use the following ingredients:

  • sugar;
  • cocoa;
  • garlic;
  • halva;
  • vanillin;
  • carnation;
  • dill;
  • fennel;
  • cardamom and much more.

In this case, it is difficult to imagine the composition of a flavoring without the use of food flavorings, for example, flaxseed, sunflower, hemp and dill. Moreover, there are medications that also have a positive effect on aquatic inhabitants. So, castor oil, valerian, fish oil and even the well-known “Star” balm are good options.

  1. It is important to maintain a low concentration of the substance. Because a sharp and strong aroma can have the opposite effect of the desired result, and will only scare away the fish.
  2. If you intend to use a flavor during the warm season of the year, then it is better to use alcohol, oil and glycerin attractants.
  3. For the winter months and cold weather, it is recommended to use exclusively alcohol flavors. Pay special attention to attractants of animal origin. This could be fish oil, canned food, dried blood, bloodworms, and the like.

Recipes for popular flavors

Please note that alcohol attractants dissolve perfectly in cold water, can eliminate the occurrence of rotting processes, and, naturally, perfectly attract fish. This type of flavoring has a long shelf life and is recommended for use in small quantities. You can use alcoholic substances all year round in any weather.

1. Alcohol flavoring based on dry plants and fruits

Take a dark glass container and put in it anise, cinnamon, garlic, dill, cloves and one glass of vodka (forty degrees). Mix everything well to obtain a homogeneous mass and leave for three weeks. This composition is perfect for pre-dipping and soaking baits in it for a while. This is done before throwing them. Moreover, all the ingredients of this flavor can be changed at your discretion. The basic version is presented.

2. Alcohol attractant based on fresh fruits and plants

In this case, it is recommended to use the same ingredients as in the previous recipe. They just have to be fresh. And to eliminate fermentation, add a pinch of salt to the resulting mass. An excellent recipe will be made using cucumbers.

crucian carp

  • kerosene;
  • egg capsule root;
  • cattail root;
  • calamus root;
  • cocoa;
  • dill;
  • garlic and much more.

Bream

Flavorings for bait

Video about flavorings for both baits and groundbait:

An interesting fact is that fish’s sense of smell is several times stronger than that of dogs. That is why fish are capable of perceiving information about the surrounding aquatic environment at the molecular level. This means that any changes will definitely be noticed. But how she behaves is a completely different matter. The main thing is to make a good impression on the aquatic inhabitants to achieve a positive fishing result. But how to do that?

Use attractants, which can also be called stimulants. It all depends on you, whether you will use store-bought flavors or make them yourself. You don't need a lot of intelligence for this. The main thing is that they are easy to use.

  • in the spring and summer periods of the year, give your preference to fruity and sweet aromas;
  • During the autumn and winter seasons, pay attention to spicy and fruity smells.

This is preferable for combined use during fishing, when there is no goal to catch a specific type of fish.

Store-bought flavors

Today, there are a large number of different attractants that are produced at the production level by different firms and companies, both domestic and foreign. They may have different industrial bases and technological equipment. Therefore, the production of flavors may differ not only in the form of delivery of the substances, for example, whether it will be granules or gel, but also in the packaging method, the presence of a branded label, and much more.

Moreover, entire research institutes, advanced and talented ichthyologists, professionals in fish physiology and biotechnologists can work for modern holdings that produce flavorings in especially large volumes. There are also companies that work closely with organizations producing baits or baits. This:

  • Berkley;
  • Sensas;
  • Rublex;
  • Bass Assassin;
  • Gary Yamamoto and many others.

Small manufacturers that do not have a broad scientific base and technological equipment are engaged in the production of flavorings based on:

  • dried animal blood;
  • extracts from shrimp and other marine life;
  • worms;
  • cakes;
  • milk powder;
  • confectionery and pharmacological flavorings and additives.

If we compare purchased attractants with traditional ones, there is no huge difference between them. The former simply have a more convenient form of delivery in the form of a spray or gel, and have their own special packaging. But most importantly, they must be accompanied by instructions or recommendations for use. Holdings today are trying to produce flavors by chemical synthesis or biotechnology, which is considered more profitable from the commercial side.

Rules for applying flavoring

  1. If you use stepped fishing during the fishing process, then the bait should be sprayed with flavoring every three casts. This is how you can provide a subtle trail of pleasant aromas to the fish at the fishing spot, which will definitely attract its attention.
  2. Fishing attractants that are used for long pauses on the surface of the bottom of a reservoir show themselves to be excellent. In this case, the fish have the opportunity to approach, smell and swallow the fragrant bait.
  3. It would be a good idea to simultaneously use foam fish in combination with flavorings.
  4. Pay special attention to the fact that branded store attractants are considered disposable. After all, the next day, gear sprayed with them may not only smell, but even stink.
  5. The main purpose of attractants is to increase the effectiveness of complementary feeding.
  6. In the summer, it is worth using more intense aromas, and in the winter, light and relaxed ones.
  7. During autumn and winter fishing, focus on spicy scents.
  8. If you purposefully set out to catch a certain type of fish, it is recommended to use only those aromas that attract fish.
  9. It is allowed to use no more than three rich-smelling ingredients. These are just recommendations, you can use as many components as you like.

Firstly, I would like to immediately give my understanding of dips. In my opinion, they are needed not for collecting fish, but for provoking the fish to bite. Therefore, it is very important to be able to work with bait, which is the main tool for collecting and holding fish at the fishing point. So, if there are no fish at the point, then at least try, but you won’t get “magic”.

Secondly, I would like to immediately note that sprays cannot be considered as a “magic pill” for no-bite. If the fish stands at the point and does not bite, then first you should play with the equipment - the length of the leader, the size of the hook and the nozzles, after making sure that this does not give results, then you should try dips.

Thirdly, I was unable to identify any pattern in the operation of deeps. Of course, I have favorites that work more often (or so it seems to me), but it’s impossible to really know which dip will work at one time or another. Therefore, when fishing, you need to have a set of different dips and constantly go through them. I usually make 2-3 casts with one flavor (spray on the bait), if the wait time for a bite does not decrease, then I take another dip. And so on in a circle until you come across that aroma that provokes the fish to bite greedily.

Fourthly, it is worth considering the types of odors and how they work in cold and warm water, as well as the type of fish. They are usually divided into the following types:

  • Fruit;
  • Spices;
  • Caramel-creamy/milk;
  • Fish/meat;

If the first three smell pleasant to humans, then the last group is quite smelly, so be careful when storing, if it spills, the smell will be wow.

In spring and autumn, when the water is cold, I usually start with fish and meat scents, then spices and then caramel-creamy and fruit. In warm water, it’s the other way around - I start with caramel-cream and fruit, then spices and fish/meat.

Below is a table based on my experience using dips.

This table reflects my experience of using “sprinklers” on stagnant bodies of water - crucian carp ponds, large lakes, paid ponds. It may change over time, it all depends on experience and fishing results.

I think some of the most universal scents are vanilla, garlic and strawberry. They work almost always, even in cold water. A very strange story with seafood, I have often heard that they work great on white fish in cold water, but only carp/crucian carp responded.

The melon was also a discovery; there was a series of very good fishing trips on a wild lake, when it helped to really increase the frequency of bites, while all the fish were biting - bream, roach, crucian carp and a couple of carp slipped through.

The use of dips is still a huge area for experimentation for me.

As for manufacturers, I mainly use the following:

  • Silver Bream- Russian manufacturer. I consider the price/quality to be the best. Very durable - I’ve been using some for the second season already;
  • Greenfishing- also a domestic company. Last season I used it mainly for carp and crucian carp, they worked well, I will look at it in the new season;
  • 100 bites- Russian guys again. I took smells that I couldn’t find from Silver Bream - cheese, chocolate, nuts, strawberries. I'm using it for the second season and the smell hasn't gone away.
  • Traper- Polish company. There is one in the arsenal - vanilla. I got it as a prize from some competitions. It works great, but the price is high compared to ours.
  • Dunaev- Russian manufacturer. So far I have only used one scent - cinnamon. Again I won prizes. The price is at the level of silver and greenfishing, we will try it.

There are also very good dips from foreign manufacturers - Sensas, VDE, Richworth. But the price for them is quite high, sometimes 3-4 times higher than domestic ones.

We will talk about spices and seasonings, dry and liquid flavors for fishing, and how to prepare them with your own hands and use them in bait and bait.

Fishing flavors are used by anglers to improve the attractive properties of bait and bait. A correctly selected aroma or combination of odors can attract more fish to the fishing spot, create competition between fish under water, and thereby significantly improve the bite.

There are anglers who believe in the power of aromas in bait and bait, and there are those who do not pay attention to their importance. The same is true with the meaning of color. But everything is learned by comparison, and many different experiments show that the smell and color of fish are distinguished and influence the bite. This is especially noticeable in fishing competitions.

Most special flavors for fishing are made from food grade ingredients and then go on sale under the guise of various boosters, attractants, and bite activators. Less commonly, proprietary extracts or extracts are used in the production of fishing flavors.

A scented bait is detected much faster by fish and is eaten more readily. In most cases, flavorings affect not only the fish’s olfactory organs, but also its taste. This is expressed in a greater number of bites with a significant reduction in empty ones. The fish swallows the bait more confidently and holds it in its mouth longer.

Aromatization of bait is carried out by adding aroma at the preparation stage or when moistening dry mixtures in a pond. The bait is flavored during the cooking process or during fishing by dipping it into dip (in fishing, dip is a liquid flavor for bait).

For bait, liquid and dry flavors are used. Their task is to attract fish to the fishing spot faster and from a greater distance. When using flavored bait, it is highly advisable to use a scented bait, which should stand out favorably against the background of the food.

Of course, flavorings are not a panacea for lack of bite. They cannot collect fish at a point if there are none. Even correctly selected odors will not be able to intensify the depressive bite to the level of gluttony.

Liquid and dry flavors

Based on their form, flavors are divided into liquid and dry. Dry flavorings can be culinary spices and seasonings. Liquid flavors can be natural and identical to natural or synthesized, based on oils or propylene glycol (E1520) or triacytin (E1518).

For fishing use:

  • Dry and liquid food flavorings;
  • Essential oils, extracts, extracts.

Liquid flavorings are food concentrates, extracts, essential oils. They are used to prepare flavors for fishing, and some are used as additives in their pure form.

Natural spices and food flavorings based on propylene glycol are most often used for fishing. Natural flavors are too sensitive to heat treatment, are poorly preserved, have a less persistent aroma and are more expensive.

You can make an alcohol extract (extract) from spices. For example: 100 grams of coriander pour 200 ml of vodka and leave for two weeks. Mix the tincture with vegetable oil and evaporate the alcohol by heating it in a water bath - you get a fragrant oil infusion. You don’t have to add oil, just evaporate the alcohol to get rid of its smell.

It is almost impossible to synthesize concentrate at home, so fishermen purchase ready-made confectionery and food flavorings and use them to prepare their own.

Flavor groups

Flavors for fishing are conventionally divided into groups:

  • A group of spices (anise, garlic, cinnamon, vanilla, coriander, etc.);
  • Sweet fruit and berry group (strawberry, plum, melon, etc.);
  • Meat and fish group (halibut, shell, red caviar, etc.).

Each group of flavorings is more or less suitable for attracting different types of fish, and works better or worse at a certain water temperature.

Flavoring methods

In dry bait mixtures, dry flavors are used, and liquid flavors are used to moisten the bait. In some cases, liquid flavorings and dyes are added to crackers at the stage of preparing the dough, which is then baked and ground into the desired fraction size.

The bait is aromatized during the preparation stage, and is also deepened during fishing by dipping or using a brush.

Confectionery food flavors are very concentrated, and therefore they are diluted before use. Moreover, diluted concentrates, before adding to bait, are diluted again with water.

The technology for preparing flavors and dips for fishing, in most cases, consists of mixing food flavors or spices with invert sugar syrup (inversion is the splitting of sucrose into fructose and glucose under the influence of citric acid) or regular (candied faster). After this, they can be stored for a long time and used as additives in bait or as a dip for bait.

Where to get raw materials for making fishing flavors?

Sometimes there is a problem with buying confectionery flavors, since they are not sold everywhere, then they can be replaced with special fishing concentrates. Specifically, concentrates (in dry or liquid form), and not ready-to-use boosters, etc.

Some essential oils you need can be found at the pharmacy, and spices and seasonings can be found in almost any grocery store or market.

Food and confectionery flavors are the most powerful and effective, but they are somewhat more difficult to buy. You should look for them in retail confectionery stores or special online stores.

To search for them, you can use the Yandex.Market platform (search example), or use a general search through Yandex or Google (search example). It should be taken into account that they have a delivery cost and a minimum order amount, below which the sale becomes unprofitable. It is beneficial to take assorted flavors for the entire season.

Crucian carp is extremely picky about smells. Finding the right flavor is an art.

Some novice anglers mistakenly believe that scents can be used as the main bait. Of course this is not true. These drugs only whet the crucian's appetite. Thus, fishing efficiency increases.

From this article you will learn what flavors crucian carp like and how to choose them correctly.

Flavors. What it is?

Flavorings for fishing are a large group of substances that can be divided into:

  • for nozzle;
  • for bait.

These substances are used as seasonings. They make the taste of baits and baits for crucian carp much more tempting. After all, this fish relies more on smell than on sight when looking for food.

Some experts argue that the sense of smell of fish, including crucian carp, is much more developed than that of mammals.

It's worth knowing that flavorings are not some kind of "magic pill." They just act as an attracting factor. They should be selected correctly.

If we compare flavorings with attractants, then the latter just simply interest the crucian carp. In this case, the fish does not necessarily have to bite, because attractants have absolutely no effect on appetite.

There is also a slight difference between flavoring agents and activators. Unlike a bite activator for crucian carp, flavorings attract fish until the very end of fishing.

What smells does crucian carp like?

The harmful and shy crucian carp has smells that it loves most:

How to make the right and best choice?

As experienced fishermen have noticed, crucian carp are very reluctant to respond to synthetic flavors.

The only exception is kerosene.

In general, fishing stores sell flavorings in liquid or powder form. Each of
They have their own individual characteristics and a specific season for catching crucian carp. The range of smells is also diverse.

Liquid flavors are added to the bait. Thanks to their unique composition, they seep into the water and attract fish. One bottle can last for a long time, since such drugs are used in small quantities.

Powdered flavors are mixed with bait. This is necessary so that the crucian carp is not afraid and gets used to eating in the place where it is subsequently planned to catch it.

The advantages of powdered flavors are as follows:

  • the smell lasts for a long time;
  • easy to use;
  • swell quickly when in water;
  • perfect for those reservoirs where the current is too strong;
  • The shelf life is very long.

Flavorings at home

Many fishermen like to make their own flavors. To do everything right, you need to remember and take into account the following points:

  • the nature of the reservoir;
  • weather;
  • season;
  • the number of neighboring fishermen and much more.

Dung worm is the most common household flavoring agent. It must be placed in a box containing mint for some time. So it becomes:

  • clean;
  • attractive to crucian carp.

Crucian carp also loves black bread, which can be mixed with other flavorings. Sometimes some anglers baffle others by telling them about personally invented flavors from the most incredible combinations.

The drug “Zvezdochka” is sold in pharmacies. For inexplicable reasons, it is very attractive to crucian carp.

Remember that the choice of flavor depends on weather conditions and is selected solely by trial and error. Never use just one scent, be sure to add several more to it.

Let's take a closer look at one of the flavoring recipes that is made at home. This will be an alcohol flavoring.

It can be easily dissolved in cold water and will quickly attract fish. Alcohol flavoring can be stored for a very long time. In addition, it requires very little to use. To prepare it you need the following ingredients:

  • dill;
  • garlic;
  • anise;
  • carnation;
  • cinnamon;
  • vodka 40% - 1 glass.

All ingredients must be mixed in a glass container and left to brew for three weeks. This flavoring is suitable both for preparing bait and for dipping bait into it before casting a fishing rod.

We will also consider another recipe that is popular: flavoring is tea syrup. To make it, you will need tea bags. They can come in scents such as:

  • blueberry;
  • currant;
  • cinnamon;
  • apple.

If we talk about additional components, they are as follows:

  • hemp oil;
  • powdered milk;
  • soy sauce;
  • ketchup.

Six bags are placed in a container and filled with boiling water, to which you need to add a few tablespoons of sugar. The resulting syrup must be mixed with additional components. Leave for at least 30 minutes and strain. You need to soak the bait in this flavoring. To keep warm, you can use a thermos.

Terms of use

To get the maximum effect when fishing for crucian carp, you need to follow simple rules:

  • remember that too strong odors repel crucian carp, so it is recommended to use fragrances carefully;
  • during the cold season, only alcohol flavors are used;
  • During the winter season, animal flavors such as worms, canned food or fish oil are suitable.
3 ways to increase your fish catch

There are many ways to increase your fish catch, but the most effective ones are. Below, the site editors share with you the 3 most effective ways to increase your catch:

  1. Bite activator. This is a pheromone-based additive that activates receptors in fish. ATTENTION! Rybnadzor wants to ban this bait!
  2. Any other baits with flavorings are less effective; it is better if they contain pheromones. But the most effective way is to use the new product of 2016 - DYNAMITE EFFECT!
  3. Learning different fishing techniques. For example, it is written here about spinning wires.

Flavors for different seasons

In cold and warm seasons, the principles of aromatization differ significantly from each other. For example, in
In winter, mild aromas are preferable for crucian carp. But on hot summer days, this fish loves delicious strong smells most of all. When choosing a flavoring agent, the most important thing is not to overdo it, since excess odors simply drive away prey.

Flavors for crucian carp in spring and autumn also have their own adjustments. In the spring, the crucian carp prepares for spawning, and in the fall – to collect nutrients for the winter. At this time, the flavors must have plenty of nutrients. The smells of a worm or bloodworm are very suitable.

On cold winter days, crucian carp are especially sensitive to odors. During this time, it will sometimes be wise not to use any additional scents at all. In winter, protein mixtures whose smell attracts him can be great.

So, in order to achieve good efficiency in catching crucian carp, you need to follow certain recommendations and rules:

  • use spicy scents in winter and autumn;
  • It is advisable to combine flavors;
  • Fruit flavors are used in summer and spring;
  • special substances should be used when it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of complementary feeding;
  • You can use foam fish together with flavorings. This will give better results;
  • The store-bought flavor is used only once. The next day it will smell extremely unpleasant.

Since the mood of our prey changes quite often, using the best flavoring for crucian carp (both store-bought and homemade) can solve this problem. And so that they are the best, feel free to experiment, discover new smells that can attract crucian carp - and you will have excellent fishing!

Bite flavors for crucian carp

Depending on the habits and behavior of underwater inhabitants, the characteristics of their complementary feeding are formed. For example, crucian carp is distinguished by its curiosity.

Fishermen have long claimed that it actively reacts to almost all aromas, even those that it did not know before. But most of all, crucian carp loves sharp and unusual smells.

On any lake, with the help of such unusual complementary foods, you can attract almost all crucian carp. In ancient times, to do this, they used bricks soaked in various herbs, kerosene or other harsh compounds.

After which the brick was lowered into the water several days before the intended fishing for crucian carp. During this time, curious fish, attracted by the unfamiliar aroma, begin to circle around the source of the smell. This is the whole principle of using aromatic fertilizers for crucian carp.

But despite this, he can be quite picky about scents. And it can be extremely difficult to choose the necessary mixture for complementary feeding.

Many fishing enthusiasts think that flavors can be used in fishing as the main bait. But here they are extremely mistaken.

Since the essence of flavorings is to stimulate the appetite of fish, which can increase the number of fish caught significantly.

What are fishing flavors?

Flavorings for crucian carp fishing are a huge range of substances, which are divided into:

  • Aromatic substances for the nozzle;
  • Aromatic substances for complementary feeding.

All these components are used as spices. Baits and complementary foods using flavorings are much more effective in attracting and seducing crucian carp, because when searching for food, it relies mainly on the sense of smell.

Flavorings differ from attractants in the following two factors:

  • Attractants tempt fish to a lesser extent;
  • Attractants do not stimulate the appetite of crucian carp, so you should not expect frequent bites.

Therefore, the fisherman should not confuse these two terms.

Flavorings and activators also differ from each other. Activators attract fish only at the beginning of fishing, while flavors act on them for a long time.

How to choose the best and effective flavoring?

There are several types of aromatic additives:

Both of these types of additives can be found in specialty fishing stores. When preparing bait, it is worth knowing that aromatic ingredients should be approximately 7% of the total mass.

For each season of hunting for crucian carp, there is a special aromatic additive. For example, in the summer the fish will not bite if a flavoring agent was used for autumn fishing.

The range of aromas is very diverse - from sickly sweet to extremely sour. Liquid types of additives are usually used together with bait.

When immersed in water, the flavor spreads throughout the area and lures fish.

They are used in small doses, so one purchased bottle will last for a long time. Powdered activators are usually used with bait.

Advantages of powdered aromatic additives:

  • The aroma lasts for quite a long time;
  • The powder supplement is easy to use;
  • When in water, the additive immediately begins to act;
  • Can be used in places with fast currents;
  • Can be stored for a long time.

What scents attract fish?

This curious fish is most attracted to:

  • Smells of vanilla. Small and medium-sized individuals react especially to vanilla. But besides crucian carp, vanilla also attracts bream, so you can safely hunt for that too.
  • Anise oil. Experienced fishermen claim that if you add just a few drops of this oil to porridge or bread, the crucian carp will already be tempted. In winter, you don’t need to use it at all.
  • Smells of garlic. Large crucian carp are caught more often if this additive is used.
  • Honey. Crucian carp also loves to eat sweets. A few drops of honey are added to the porridge.
  • If fishing is boring and sluggish, then hemp can come to the rescue.
  • Dill is considered one of the most effective aromatic additives. Its aroma can attract fish even from overgrown areas of the lake.
  • Oats. Oatmeal cookies perfectly attract the attention of crucian carp if you add some flour to them.

How to make your own flavoring at home?

Both an expert fisherman and a beginner can prepare the flavoring on their own.

To do this, it is worth considering factors such as:

  • What is the current on the lake;
  • Climatic conditions;
  • Weather;
  • There are so many fishermen around and many others.

Prepare flavorings for crucian carp from both plant and animal components.

The most common products for making aromatic additives are:

  1. Worm. The dung rope ranks first in popularity. Because it is very easy to find. If you put it in a container with lemon balm or mint for a short time, it will attract large crucian carp and become much cleaner.
  2. Bread. This curious fish loves black bread with the addition of various flavorings, for example, pharmacy star. Its pungent odor is very effective on fish.
  3. Aromatic alcohol additive. To prepare it you need to have:
  • Greenery;
  • A few cloves of garlic;
  • Anise oil;
  • Dried cloves and cinnamon;
  • Alcohol or vodka 40% - approximately 250 ml.

All this is mixed in a jar and infused for two to three weeks.

I have been active fishing for quite some time and have found many ways to improve the bite. And here are the most effective:

  1. Bite activator. Attracts fish in cold and warm water with the help of pheromones included in the composition and stimulates its appetite. It’s a pity that Rosprirodnadzor wants to impose a ban on its sale.
  2. More sensitive gear. Reviews and instructions for other types of gear can be found on the pages of my website.
  3. Lures using pheromones.
You can get the rest of the secrets of successful fishing for free by reading my other materials on the site.

The advantages of this flavor are that it:

  • It is stored for a long time;
  • Easy to use;
  • Excellent at attracting fish;
  • Used in small quantities;
  • It can be added to complementary foods, or to a bait.
  1. Porridge for complementary feeding. Consisting of:
  • Ground sunflower seeds;
  • Millets;
  • Chopped worms;
  • A few drops of peppermint oil and lavender;
  • One tablespoon of lavender oil.
  1. Crucian carp also prefers complementary feeding, which is based on cake soaked in vegetable oil.
  2. Tea syrup. This syrup is also very popular among fishermen. To prepare it, tea bags with different flavors can be used.
  3. Corn. A very effective way to lure crucian carp is considered to be a flavor made from corn and sunflower oil.
  4. Honey. For a high-quality fish catch, honey diluted in water is also used. Once you add it to complementary foods, the “sweet tooth” crucian will immediately fall for the bait.

The main rule when preparing bait for crucian carp is to make the mixture as rich as possible. This will promote active fishing. But it is also important that the groundbait does not become tastier than the bait.

It is worth noting that crucian carp prefers plant-based aromatic additives rather than synthetic ones. Of the second, the only exception is kerosene.

During complementary feeding, it is imperative to use aromatic additives. The right bait is well-finely ground ingredients that perfectly attract crucian carp and awaken its appetite.

To make fishing effective and interesting, you should not use very light components for complementary feeding, as they can settle to the bottom, where small fish will “peck” all the time.

If the bait is prepared correctly, it will not break into pieces upon contact with water, but will remain in the feeder and will gradually disintegrate in the water, thereby luring crucian carp.

General rules for feeding crucian carp with added flavorings:

  1. First you need to carry out the first bait. If you catch small and medium-sized fish, then you need to throw 6-7 small crumbs of porridge. Next, after each caught individual, throw in feed of a smaller diameter. If you are hunting for large crucian carp, then throw in 10-12 balls of porridge with flavoring.
  2. Complementary food must be periodically moistened so that it does not stick to the palms.
  3. It is necessary to throw the bait in the same place. This place should be chosen close to the float with bait.
  4. If the bait gets into a place far from the main bait site, this may cause the fish to get scared and swim away.

What aromatic additives are used at different times of the year?

Before hunting for crucian carp, you must take into account the time of year and weather conditions. Why?

The fact is that in cloudy weather, crucian carp prefers more subtle odors, and in the summer heat it is better to use bright and rich flavors.

It is important to remember that if you use a large amount of additives, then instead of attracting fish, on the contrary, you can scare them away. In addition, you don’t need to feed crucian carp a lot and often in the summer, since it can already find a lot of food on its own.

But in the spring and autumn seasons, it is advisable to use bait that contains a large amount of nutrients. Since in the spring the fish prepares for spawning, and in the fall - for winter. You can add worm flavorings to complementary foods.

In winter frosts, crucian carp are especially sensitive to all kinds of aromas and odors. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid flavorings altogether. The only exception can be a protein supplement, which will not scare away the crucian carp, but, on the contrary, will be able to attract it.

How to prepare flavors for winter and summer fishing yourself?

In the spring season

Crucian carp differs from other fish in one important factor - its sluggish appetite; it is rarely very hungry. Therefore, it is important not to overfeed the crucian carp, as it may not respond to the bait at all.

When hunting for crucian carp, one rule should be taken into account - the cooler the water temperature, the more willingly crucian carp eat food of animal origin.

And accordingly, the warmer the water temperature, the more desirable it is to eat bait of plant origin.

Therefore, in the cool season, it is advisable to add flavorings with the smell of worms, bloodworms, etc. to complementary foods.

One example of preparing complementary food for catching crucian carp:

  • Dry millet - 400g;
  • Bread crumbs – 400 g;
  • Oatmeal – 200 g;
  • Finely ground sunflower seeds
  • Worm flavoring.

All ingredients are steamed with hot water and infused for 5-8 hours.

In the autumn season

The principle is the same as in the spring season - it is advisable to use a flavoring using animal elements.

During the summer season

In summer, flavorings of plant origin are most often used. This could be black bread and rolled oats.

Just soak it a little with water and add a couple of drops of vegetable oil. Barley steamed in boiling water with the addition of anise or vanilla also gives a good result.

During the winter season

Choosing a flavor for winter fishing is an art. Since during this period the crucian carp usually sleeps.

And if fishing takes place in places where crucian carp do not have the opportunity to sleep, then it is better either not to use the flavoring at all, or to add protein components in small quantities.

A few tips for high-quality and effective crucian carp hunting:

  • In the cold season, aromatic additives of animal origin should be used;
  • You can combine different flavors with each other;
  • In summer and spring, it will be more effective to use sweet and bright scents;
  • If you add aromatic additives to complementary foods, it will attract crucian carp faster;
  • It is worth taking into account factors such as weather, lake current, water temperature and others.

The best flavors for catching crucian carp with your own hands: what flavors do crucian carp like?

Crucian carp is a very picky fish in terms of smells, and choosing the right flavor can be very difficult. Flavors do not act as the main bait: they are appetite stimulants, which increases fishing efficiency. Among all the odors, crucian carp is most susceptible to the smell of garlic, potatoes, corn, ginger, sunflower seeds, flax and oriental spices. You should not experiment with scents - an unfamiliar and too strong smell can scare away cautious fish.

Types of flavors

In specialized fishing stores you can purchase flavors in liquid or powder form. Such activators should make up 5-7% of the total amount of bait. Each product has its own characteristics of use, and not all may be suitable for fishing in any season. The range of smells is very diverse - from the sweet “Tutti-frutti” to the bright smell of salted squid.

Liquid fragrances are usually added to bait, and then, due to their composition, easily seep into the water and attract crucian carp. They are used in small quantities, so one bottle lasts a long time. Flavorings in the form of powders are often mixed with bait so that the crucian carp gets used to feeding in the place where fishing is planned in the future.

Flavorings at home

For lovers of crucian carp fishing, creating flavors at home gives special pleasure. To prepare the right flavor, you need to take into account factors such as the nature of the reservoir, the season, the number of neighboring fishermen, weather conditions and much more.

One of the most common options is a dung worm that has spent some time in a box of mint before being caught. Then the worm not only becomes clean, but also acquires an attractive smell for crucian carp. Crucian carp also bite well on black bread, which can be easily combined with different flavorings.

The most avid fishermen prefer not to stop at such common flavors as garlic powder, dill seeds or sunflower oil. You can find a variety of recipes on the forums; some of them may seem quite surprising.

Oddly enough, crucian carp are very attracted to the smell of the Vietnamese balm “Zvezdochka”, which is sold in all pharmacies. One of the options for using the balm is to lubricate your hands with it, and then knead the dough with your hands. The result is an excellent bait that will provide a good catch.

Corn grains pre-lubricated with sunflower oil can also serve as good bait. Crucian carp is also not indifferent to the smell of anise, cocoa powder, vanillin and honey. By the way, although fish prefer natural flavors to synthetic ones, you can get an excellent catch by using kerosene.

Be sure to use flavorings for bait! But in order to make the right bait, you need to take into account that it must be in the form of a thoroughly ground powder. But you should not use substances that are too light, as they, settling on the bottom, can attract small fish, which will ruin the whole fishing.

For bait, it is good to use ground oatmeal cookies, sunflower oil, ground fried sunflower seeds, and oatmeal porridge. The flavoring for bait is selected by trial and error, since success directly depends on the fishing conditions.

Properly prepared bait should not break into pieces when it hits the water: ideally, it should disperse into a fine powder a few minutes after settling to the bottom.

How to increase your fish catch?

Over 7 years of active fishing, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Bite activator. This pheromone additive attracts fish most strongly in cold and warm water. Discussion of the bite activator “Hungry Fish”.
  2. Increased gear sensitivity. Read the appropriate manuals for your specific type of gear.
  3. Pheromone-based lures.

Rules for aromatization in warm and cold water

Why is it important to consider the season and weather conditions? The fact is that the principles of aromatization in warm and cold water are different. In cold weather, fish prefer mild odors, while in hot and warm weather it is better to choose flavors with pronounced odors, such as fruity ones.

The most important thing is not to overdo it with flavorings, since an excess of smell can scare away the crucian carp. In warm water, honey is the best sweet flavoring option. There is no need to be overzealous with nutrients, since in the summer the fish can easily find their own food.

The situation is completely different in spring and late autumn, when the water has already cooled. At this time, the fish are either preparing for spawning or gaining nutrients for winter. Therefore, when preparing bait, make sure that it contains a sufficient amount of nutrients. As for aromatization, it is better to give preference to such aromas as the smell of bloodworms or worms. But if the bait already contains bloodworms, then it is better to postpone the use of flavoring for another time.

In cold water, fish react very strongly to odors, so sometimes it is better not to use additional aromas at all than to overdo it. Pay attention to protein and protein flavors. They have a faint aroma and at the same time attract fish.

Results

To summarize, we can derive a number of simple rules for the correct flavoring of bait and bait for crucian carp:

  1. Make sure that the scent you are going to use is suitable for catching crucian carp.
  2. Between synthetic and natural flavors, it is better to give preference to natural ones: fish react better to them.
  3. Completely different materials can become flavoring agents; the main thing is not to be afraid to experiment. But the most popular are the aromas of honey, garlic, bloodworm, dill seeds and sunflower. Interesting fact: of all synthetic flavorings, crucian carp gives the greatest preference to kerosene.
  4. The right flavor can only be found through trial and error. Be sure to consider weather conditions, the nature of the lake and other fishing factors.
  5. Pay attention to the fishing season: in cold and warm water, fish react differently to odors. In spring and autumn it is better to stick to weak protein scents, and in summer you can safely choose strong sweet and fruity scents.

Taste preferences of crucian carp

Every fisherman has fished for crucian carp at least a couple of times in his life. Therefore, he knows that the key to successful fishing is properly prepared bait: groundbait, bait and bait. And in order for the bait to be more interesting for crucian carp, it must emit an attractive smell. Let's look at what bait attracts crucian carp best, what baits it bites on most often and what flavors it likes most.

Knowing the taste preferences of crucian carp, you will ensure yourself a good catch

What smells do crucian carp like?

Flavorings are a kind of seasonings that improve the taste of the “dish” served to crucian carp. According to their condition, they can be in the form of:

  • oils;
  • syrup;
  • spray;
  • dry powder.

In addition, the wide variety of tastes and smells for fishing can be divided into 4 types:

  • Caramel-creamy. From the caramel-cream category, crucian carp prefers the aroma of chocolate, cookies, and milk.
  • Nut. From this category, the best smells for fishing are considered to be hazelnuts, peanuts, and walnuts.
  • Fruity. From the fruit category, the aromas of pineapple, melon, raspberry, strawberry, and plum are suitable for catching crucian carp.
  • Spicy. Anise, vanilla, cinnamon, garlic, pepper, dill are suitable from the category of spices.

Flavorings can be in the form of a spray

In addition to the above smells, the aromas of peas, hemp, sunflower cake, corn and honey work effectively.

Flavors can be purchased at special fishing stores or prepared independently using familiar products. The most popular flavorings used at home:

  • anise;
  • vanilla;
  • carnation;
  • hemp;
  • cocoa;
  • cinnamon;
  • cake;
  • essential oils;
  • nuts;
  • fruit juice;
  • dill;
  • fennel;
  • halva;
  • garlic.

You can make flavors from available products

Some fishermen, in addition to the above-mentioned flavorings, use special amino acids. They effectively influence the crucian carp, encouraging it to take the bait. These amino acids contain the following ingredients:

  • veal liver;
  • insects;
  • animal blood;
  • maggots;
  • leeches;
  • worms

Which of these aromas is the best for crucian carp? After all, he loves many smells, but some of them are the most preferable.

Anise

Traditional scent to attract crucian carp. It is most often added to semolina and bread, 1-3 drops each, which is quite enough to attract fish. Anise should make up 2-5% of the total weight of the bait. In winter, it is better to use anise powder in an amount of 2-3%. And in the summer - anise drops or oil, which should be added as much as possible, about 5%.

You can make the bait more attractive to crucian carp by adding anise to it.

Vanilla

This pleasant smell is very attractive to crucian carp. Powdered vanillin, vanilla sugar, and vanilla pods are suitable for catching it. In addition, sprays and drops with a vanilla scent are widely used. You can add vanillin to any bait - bloodworms, maggots, worms, semolina, bread. 30 g of vanilla sugar is usually enough to make 1 kg of groundbait or vegetable bait appetizing. Drops are applied directly to the nozzle, directly at the fishing site.

Hemp

An excellent additive for sluggish fish bites. It is advisable to add roasted and steamed hemp seeds to the bait. And for attachments you can use a hood. For many fishermen, this aroma is the main one for bait. It can be used throughout the year for fishing along with other flavors.

Honey

Crucian carp sometimes crave sweets, and he prefers the smell of honey. It is advisable to use only natural honey, adding it to semolina and pasta. Most often, honey is used for fishing in the warm season. But it can be very effective in cold water, especially together with other aromas.

You can improve the bite of crucian carp by adding honey to the bait

Garlic

The garlic aroma attracts crucian carp in most bodies of water, and large fish most often react to it. Therefore, when attracting crucian carp with the aroma of garlic, the fisherman automatically excludes small fish. You can add garlic to almost every bait, flavor semolina, dough and bread crumbs with it. Bait animals should also be dipped in squeezed garlic or treated with garlic spray. Very often this flavor is an additional component to vanilla, honey, caramel and fruit aromas.

Aromas of crucian carp bait

For successful fishing, you need not only to find a good fishing spot and prepare your gear. It is also important to attract crucian carp to this place and “persuade” it to take the bait. Therefore, for fishing, they take bait with various aromas of natural or artificial origin. Such bait, once in the water, forms a fragrant food spot, which attracts crucian carp.

A good catch largely depends on how well the bait for fishing is chosen, and what aromas were used for this. Typically, fishermen recommend using natural flavors proven by experience: sunflower cake, ground roasted sunflower or pumpkin seeds, aromatic vegetable oil, dill. These ingredients are added to the bait at the end of cooking. For the basic composition of bait, cereal grains, millet, pearl barley and corn are suitable.

Bait with properly selected aromas will help attract crucian carp to the fishing spot.

The main thing in the process of preparing bait is not to overdo it with flavorings. Their excess can have a negative effect.

It is best to add fruit flavors or essential oils (anise, cocoa, mint) to sweet baits. In addition, sweet formulations can be combined with ordinary products: vanilla or oatmeal cookies, honey, nuts, halva, fruit juice or tea. It is better to increase the effectiveness of spicy baits with dill, garlic flavors, hemp oil and sunflower cake.

In early spring and autumn, flavors with animal scents will be very effective. Food products used for this include fish oil, boiled crabs or shrimp, fish meal and canned food.

In the summer, crucian carp becomes more finicky than in the spring. Therefore, you need to change the bait several times throughout the day. It is advisable to flavor the bait and baits with different flavors. The most popular summer scents are anise, vanilla, honey, and garlic.

In the spring, crucian carp are attracted to bait containing fish oil and other animal flavors.

There are no problems with garlic; you can simply squeeze the juice of 2-3 garlic cloves into porridge or dough. This bait can stir up lazy crucian carp and provide the fisherman with a good catch.

If the bite is still bad, you can try the next method. Take a few expanded clay stones, rub them with garlic and throw them to the fishing spot. The aroma of garlic attracts crucian carp, so the chances that the fish will take the bait increase. After an hour, you can add a little more garlic expanded clay into the water. Expanded clay perfectly absorbs odors, which last for a very long time. Therefore, expanded clay pellets can be impregnated with fragrant vegetable oil or any other flavorings.

The purpose of this method is to attract crucian carp to the fishing site without using a lot of bait. Because the more food he eats, the worse his bite will be.

Often, adding garlic to bait and bait helps to attract crucian carp.

Catching crucian carp with dill

It is recommended to add dill to baits as an effective flavoring agent. It works best in hot weather, when the pond is very warm. Dill seeds have a brownish-greenish color and a pleasant smell. Before use, grind them into powder and add 2-3 teaspoons to the bait. Crushed dill seeds can be added to a jar of maggots or worms, as well as to all plant attachments. For 100 g of vegetable bait, 1/4 teaspoon of ground seeds is enough.

You can also preserve the smell of dill and prepare an alcohol-based fishing flavor. To prepare, you need to take dried dill, pour it into a dark glass container and fill it with alcohol. The flavor must be infused for 3 weeks. It is recommended to use an alcohol solution using a spray bottle, so the alcohol quickly evaporates, but the aroma remains.

Another effective recipe for an alcohol flavor that dissolves quickly and attracts fish well. This flavor can be stored for a long time, and only a few drops are needed for bait. To prepare the flavoring, you need to take equal parts of anise, cinnamon, cloves, dill, and garlic. The ingredients must be mixed, poured with 1 glass of alcohol, then left to infuse for 3 weeks.

Crucian carp are attracted to the smell of dill seeds

You can prepare dill for fishing by drying. Dried dill can be used to prepare an alcohol flavoring, or added in ground form to bait. It is recommended to store it in glass containers tightly closed with a lid. When using dried and ground dill yourself, it is best to be guided by your own sense of smell. There are no exact instructions here, and the fisherman decides for himself which proportions to maintain.

When using flavorings, it is advisable to follow the following recommendations:

If there is no bite, you should not sit for hours and watch a motionless float. You need to try different bait options, use different flavors, and perhaps change the fishing location. After all, only by acting actively can you catch a lot of fish and gain precious experience.
